Prius Helps Push Toyota to 10 Million Hybrids Sold

Twenty years ago, the first production hybrid was launched in the first generation of the Toyota Prius. Since then, the Japanese automaker has expanded not just their original hybrid model, but also the technology that powers it to create no less than eight available gas-electric vehicles. Now, they’re celebrating an impressive milestone.

Since the Prius first went on sale in 1997, Toyota has sold ten million hybrid models worldwide. That includes not only all four generations of the Prius, but others such as the Avalon, Highlander, Camry, and RAV4. But as expansive as Toyota’s lineup has become, more than half of the ten million models have been made up by the Prius. Watch the video above to learn more about Toyota’s commitment to a green future.
